Atlanta Municipal Airport, 1949
Here's a good view of the area to the north of the airport. The second street beyond the airport fence is Virginia Avenue. The large pasture just beyond that is now the site of I-85 and what were once the exit ramps to the 1961 terminal. The Atlanta Airport Hilton now stands at the far right side of the field. The large smoky industrial complex in the distance was next to the Central of Georgia railroad off of Central Avenue. Barely visible to the right of the plume of smoke on the horizon is the Atlanta skyline.
