BAHAMA-CARIBBEAN / AERO INTERNATIONAL / AIR SOUTH

Bahama-Caribbean began scheduled flights between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini in 1980 shortly after Shawnee Airlines abandoned the route. Within the next few years the airline operated several unusual routes with a strong emphasis on SHORT-haul: Miami - Homestead - Key Largo/ Port Largo Airport and Miami - Pompano Beach. Routes were flown using Cessnas and Britten-Norman Islanders. In 1981 the name was changed to Bahamas Caribbean and in 1982 the airline became Aero International.

Aero International became Air South (no relation to the earlier Air South based in Georgia) in 1985 and added several three engine Britten Norman Tri-Islanders to the fleet. Thanks to Björn Larsson for this timetable image!
