Old Atlanta Airport hangars at Lenora Airport?Robert Brown sent in this fantastic photo with some interesting information about these hangars that once stood near the old Delta headquarters on the NE side of Atlanta Airport.Bill Bundrant, who owns Lenora Airport (FAA indentifier: 2GA9) in Gwinnett County (east of Atlanta near Snellville,GA), bought several of these hangars which he disassembled and moved to Lenora. This photo taken in 1967 faces east from what is now Delta Blvd. The neighborhood seen in the distance is now the site of the main cargo terminal. Both aircraft are still wearing the basic colors of Air South's predecessor, Nationwide Airlines Southeast, which is also reflected by the "NS" in both aircraft registrations. ![]() This aerial postcard view from 1964-65 shows the location of these hangars in relation to the main terminal. ![]() Here is an aerial view of Lenora Airport in Gwinnett County, Georgia showing the hangars as they appear today. This one is a PlyMart warehouse with roofing from Southern Airways' hangar and cut-down doors from the old Shamrock (Mustangs Unlimited) hangar. ![]() This one was an old Delta hangar. Robert wrote, "The Delta hangars weren't big enough for a DC-3 so not sure what they were constructed for; perhaps for some of the mod work that Delta did during WWII? Bill has some hangars that he hasn't assembled so if somebody wanted a piece of history I guess they could make a deal." ![]() Where on Earth is Lenora Airport?
